Grab an hamburger at Burbaca in Rome where US dining meets Italian ingredients
These days, going for a burger has gone gourmet. We want to know the provenance of the meat, we want local ingredients and we want an assortment of toppings beyond something warm and slimy that once resembled a lettuce leaf.
The latest opening in Rome hoping to meet our demands is BurBaca, situated in the colourful neighbourhood of Ostiense. So called because it blends the three concepts of burger, bakery and café, Burbaca offers the tastes of US dining with quality Italian ingredients.
Sourced from the Piedmont region (well known for its gastronomic pleasures) the beef is ground on the premises and served in buns made with Burbaca’s very own recipe. Prices range from €9 for a classic burger with lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise and ketchup, to €12 for the Lamburger with smoked provola cheese, lamb, anchovies and puntarelle (Roman speciality).
If you’re in the neighbourhood for lunch, look out for the combos of a main, water & coffee at a special price. Add a dessert such as their cookie tiramisù for €4 extra. In the evening a tapas-style aperitivo with a beer or glass of wine is available for €8 between 6-8pm.
The US theme continues with the “power breakfast” Sunday brunch buffet where you can choose from American classics such as scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes, and a range of savoury and sweet dishes, plus wine or beer for €20.
