What’s on in Florence this Fall 2024<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Autumn is gently falling on Florence and with it, a great number of events to accompany you during this time of the year. If you were already thinking about buying a new rug to swaddle on your couch let\u2019s take a look at the entertainments offered by the city instead. After a very busy summer and with lower temperatures coming, this season is a great time to appreciate Florence in a more intimate atmosphere. Helen Frankenthaler<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Palazzo Strozzi presents the most extensive retrospective ever organized in Italy dedicated to one of the most revolutionary artists of the 20th century. The exhibition offers an in-depth overview of Helen Frankenthaler<\/a><\/strong>‘s work, placing her art in dialogue with contemporaries such as Jackson Pollock<\/strong>, Robert Motherwell<\/strong>, Mark Rothko<\/strong>, Morris Louis<\/strong>, David Smith<\/strong>, Anthony Caro<\/strong>, and Anne Truitt<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition takes visitors on a journey through large canvases, works on paper, and sculptures, creating a path that highlights the extraordinary originality of the artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Louise Bourgeois In Florence<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Museo Novecento<\/a> celebrates Louise Bourgeois<\/strong>, one of the most influential artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, with the exhibition “Do Not Abandon Me”<\/strong>. The show presents nearly one hundred works, including many drawings made in the 2000s, as well as sculptures of various sizes created from fabric, bronze, marble, and other materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the event, the collaboration with the Istituto degli Innocenti<\/strong> will be renewed. In the historical setting designed by Filippo Brunelleschi<\/strong>, the museum will display Cell XVIII (Portrait)<\/strong>, a powerful piece that resonates deeply with the history and collection of the Innocenti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monsters, Spirits, and Other Unease in Japanese Prints”<\/em><\/strong> offers the Italian public an immersive journey into the fantastical world of traditional Japanese monsters. Featuring breathtaking 18th- and 19th-century artworks, the show includes previously unseen ancient prints, rare books, masks, and armor, all on loan from the Stibbert Museum in Florence. The exhibit is thoughtfully designed to evoke the feelings, spaces, and atmospheres these y\u014dkai<\/em> represent, inviting viewers to explore the cultural roots of these mythical creatures and uncover the fears, desires, and mysteries they embody in Japanese tradition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

The Salvatore Ferragamo 1898-1960<\/strong> exhibition, curated by Stefania Ricci<\/strong>, offers an in-depth look at the life and work of Salvatore Ferragamo<\/strong>, a master of Italian craftsmanship and innovation in footwear design. The exhibition is organized around key themes that defined his career: artisanal skill<\/strong>, material exploration<\/strong>, and innovation<\/strong>, which is demonstrated by his impressive 368 patents. It also highlights his passion for color<\/strong>, his deep anatomical knowledge of the foot<\/strong>, and his dedication to customer care<\/strong>. His work’s exclusivity is further illustrated by the many unique models he created for high-profile personalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Genius Loci<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The festival Genius Loci is back in Florence<\/strong> to embellish Santa Croce<\/strong>. For the seventh edition of this festival, the memory and the future will be the main theme of all the shows, going from music, photography, cinema, acting to literature. The sacred places of Cenacolo and the Chiostro grande of Santa Croce have been chosen to be the stages of this particular event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the artists involved are Donatella Di Pietrantonio<\/strong>, winner of both the Premio Strega<\/strong> and Premio Strega Giovani 2024<\/strong>, jazz sensation from Barcelona Andrea Motis<\/strong>, and Folco Terzani<\/strong>, a renowned writer and documentarian. Additionally, John Greaves<\/strong> will pay tribute to the British prog rock scene, while Mario Pirovano<\/strong> will reinterpret one of the most iconic performances by the duo Fo\/Rame<\/strong>, Lu Santo Jullare Francesco<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 31st<\/sup> edition of the festival Fabbrica Europa<\/strong> is coming back to Florence. This festival offers many representations of dance, acting and music in many places in Florence like the Teatro Goldoni, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, PARC Performing Arts Research Centre<\/strong> and many others. For over a month, with 68 events, 10 venues, and more than 150 artists from 15 countries, Fabbrica Europa 2024<\/strong> becomes a rich, multidisciplinary journey through contemporary creativity. This year’s edition is marked by the research and experimentation of both renowned masters and emerging talents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 50 Giorni di Cinema a Firenze<\/a><\/strong> is back for its 2024 edition, running from October 2 to December 14, 2024<\/strong>, at the Cinema La Compagnia<\/strong> and other venues across Florence. This cinematic marathon features nine film festivals, each showcasing some of the finest international cinema, including feature films, documentaries, shorts, animation<\/strong>, and more. The event also includes talks, exhibitions, food events, and performances<\/strong>, with filmmakers and actors joining for discussions and presentations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
