Here is all you need to know!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Chilly wind, people with scarves and gloves, hot chocolate cravings and beautiful lights decorating the city can only mean one thing\u2026 The <strong>Christmas<\/strong> season has officially arrived in Florence! And we are going to tell you all about how to enjoy it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-florence-christmas-trees\">Florence Christmas trees<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.romeing.it\/florence\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Christmas-tree-in-Florence-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Best Christmas events in Florence\" class=\"wp-image-1954\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Christmas Trees will be among the enchanting illuminations in the Tuscan capital. Following their ceremonial lighting on December 6h, you can enjoy their festive glow throughout the city. The main tree will be in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.romeing.it\/florence\/what-to-see-at-florence-piazza-del-duomo\/\">Piazza del Duomo<\/a><\/strong>, and others traditionally illuminate locations such as Palazzo Vecchio, Piazza della Repubblcia and Piazzale Michelangelo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-florence-lights-up\">Florence Lights Up<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.romeing.it\/florence\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/florence-lights-up-ponte-vecchio_v2t-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"florence-lights-up-ponte-vecchio_v2t\" class=\"wp-image-45914\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.romeing.it\/florence\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/florence-lights-up-ponte-vecchio_v2t-1024x683.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.romeing.it\/florence\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/florence-lights-up-ponte-vecchio_v2t-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.romeing.it\/florence\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/florence-lights-up-ponte-vecchio_v2t-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.romeing.it\/florence\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/florence-lights-up-ponte-vecchio_v2t-1536x1024.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/www.romeing.it\/florence\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/florence-lights-up-ponte-vecchio_v2t.jpeg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>From December 6 to January 6, Florence shines brightly with\u00a0<em>Florence Lights Up<\/em>, a dazzling experience that makes the holiday season truly enchanting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romeing.it\/florence\/ponte-vecchio-florence-jewelers\/\">Ponte Vecchio<\/a> turns into a luminous canvas through video mapping, and the same goes for the fa\u00e7ades of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romeing.it\/florence\/palazzo-vecchio-florence\/\">Palazzo Vecchio<\/a> and the Church of San Paolino. Lights will also illuminate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romeing.it\/florence\/what-to-see-at-florence-piazza-del-duomo\/\">Piazza Santa Maria Novella<\/a>, Piazza San Lorenzo, the fa\u00e7ade of the Chamber of Commerce, as well as the courtyard and monumental entrance of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romeing.it\/florence\/palazzo-medici-riccardi-florence\/\">Palazzo Medici Riccardi<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The festive lights won\u2019t be limited to Florence\u2019s historic center: throughout the holiday season they will also illuminate the city\u2019s four other districts. In District 2, lighting is planned for Piazza delle Cure; in District 3, Piazza Acciaiuoli in Galluzzo and Piazza Elia Dalla Costa in Gavinana will take center stage. Piazza dell\u2019Isolotto in District 4 will also be lit up, along with Piazza Pier Vettori. Finally, in District 5 a star will appear in Piazza Dalmazia, as well as festive lighting in Parco di San Donato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As every year, Firenze Smart has handled the Christmas installations in many of the city\u2019s squares and streets: 65 trees have been set up across the districts, along with 51 trees and 430 light displays on lampposts connected to the public lighting network. For the Christmas period\u2014from 6 December to 6 January\u2014a dedicated lighting design will be activated: dynamic colored lighting will illuminate the historic city gates, the Loggiato degli Innocenti, and the loggia of San Paolo at the Museo del Novecento. The company also oversaw the permanent lighting of Ponte Santa Trinita.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-festive-lights\">Festive lights<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.romeing.it\/florence\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/CHRISTMAS-LIGHTS-florence-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"CHRISTMAS-LIGHTS-florence\" class=\"wp-image-4639\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If there is one thing that creates the magical atmosphere in the city, it&#8217;s got to be the <strong>Christmas lights<\/strong>. They are hung-up all-over Florence, in different shapes, sizes and colors. Via Gioberti, the traditional shopping street in the city center, lights up with a myriad of sparkling lights, as does Via Tornabuoni. Additional illuminations adorn Via degli Strozzi and Via dei Pescioni, ensuring the same festive sparkle in Florence&#8217;s golden luxury shopping district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-christmas-markets\">Christmas markets<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.romeing.it\/florence\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Christmas-markets-Florence-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Best Christmas events in Florence\" class=\"wp-image-1952\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A must in the holidays is to go search for the perfect present or to have the most delicious treat at the incredible <strong>Christmas Markets<\/strong>. With wooden cottages that serve as stands offering a great variety of delicacies, baked goods, ornaments, and clothing from all over, you cannot miss out on this activity. On <strong>Christmas Eve<\/strong>, the <strong>Orchestra della Toscana<\/strong> returns to <strong>Teatro Verdi<\/strong> for its annual Christmas Concert (24 December, 17:00).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a festive ballet, <strong>Teatro Verdi<\/strong> hosts <strong>The Nutcracker<\/strong> with the <strong>Russian Classical Ballet<\/strong> (23 December).
