Lots of great gigs to check out this month no matter what your taste in music.
If you’re feeling classical, try some Puccini, Chopin or Mozart played by various orchestras and pianists at the Accademia Santa Cecilia (there are 13 concerts throughout September).
A new spot in town is the ex-Distillerie Clandestine, now called XS Live, offering up live bands from all over the world. You can find it on Via Giuseppe Libetta, 13. They’re open every night from about 9pm until 2am. American ’70s rock band Jefferson Starship is playing there on the 12th. While bad boy Pete Doherty is back in town on the 13th and 14th if you feel like British beats.
One of the biggest concert venues in the city is the Auditorium and this month the artists include: European Jazz Contest (7th), Racconto Tanguero (13th), Norah Jones (17th), Ludovico Einaudi “The Elements” (22nd), Riuichi Sakamoto and Alva Noto (23rd), Gino Paoli and Danilo Rea (28th).
Radiohead fans will be pleased to know the concert that got postponed in June is know on again for Rock in Rome on the 22nd. Info: rockinroma.com.
And finally, for all you readers searching for a low-key more ‘alternative‘ scene, head over to Circolo degli Artisti for indie singer/musician Bugo (8th) and Italian electro band Aucan (15th).
