Louis Vuitton Journey Awards

To celebrate the Festival Internazionale del Film di Roma 2012, Louis Vuitton will host on November 8 at 7pm the winners of the second edition of the Journey Awards in the Spazio Etoile room of its sleek new store in Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina.

This is a competition open to students of the finest schools in international cinematography. This time around, launched in January during the opening of the Maison Louis Vuitton Roma Etoile, they called upon the emerging directors to express their creativity via the evocative theme of l’incontro. Naturally the label LV produces a beautiful luggage line and the concept of ‘a meeting’, whether be meeting a friend, a lover or a new city for the first time is heavily linked with the idea of travel. Forty different countries will be taking part in this event and the young work promises to be filled with emotion. It will be judged by Luca Guadagnino, Zoe Cassavetes, Nadine Labaki, Young-Joo Byun e Emanuelle Guillon.

You can see the 10 finalists on www.journeysawards.com, www.youtube.com/louisvuitton and also in Louis Vuitton’s unique in-store cinema up until the 17th of this month. Personally I adore this element of the store. What a beautiful way to spend an afternoon.

Go grab coffee or a gelato in the piazza, watch the elegant men and women strut across the square and then pop into this elegantissimo store for some drooling over bags and shoes, before wandering upstairs to slip into the 19-person mini cinema and watch old black and white Italian films with subtitles or, as is the case this month, work by some of the best new filmmakers the world has to offer…
