Food (and Wine) for Thought
As a precursor to Vinoforum, Rome Wine and Food Week will be kicking off on the 5th of June, launching week of events that will transform the city into a taste-bud tingling terrain of experiences. Rome’s restaurants, enoteche, theatres, museums, cooking schools, galleries and boutiques, will offer over 600 events to the public, with the goal of strengthening knowledge of, and passion for Italy’s ultimate duo – food and wine. In tune with the theme of Expo 2015, this year’s festival will be flavoured with a focus on sustainability. Along with food tastings, meetings with chefs and workshops, events such as “Vegan and tasty” and “Slow Fish – Defending our Seas” will highlight the importance of healthy and conscious cooking.
To get the program started, Imàgo will host the “Sapori di Viaggio” event, curated by top chef Francesco Apreda. There will also be a whole section of the program dedicated to gluten free, vegetarian and vegan food, to show that different doesn’t mean less delicious. Bistrot Bio will be whipping up certified organic dishes and at you can try a menu based on raw ingredients at Abitudini and Follie.
Wine will also be playing a leading part in the festivities with special events such as “Jewells to Taste”; Cristiana Perali’s presentation of jewels inspired by the world of wine.
