For the first time, urban art is taking center stage at the prestigious MACRO institute in Rome. Promoted by 999Contemporary, organized by Francesca Mezzano, and curated by Stefano Antonelli, Urban Legends art exhibit is paving the way for street artists across the world.
The exhibition showcases the work of 12 Italian and French street artists. The names to remember include: C215, Alexone, Philippe Baudelocque, Epsylonpoint, Popay, Seth, Eron, Moneyless, Lucamaleonte, Tellas, 108, and Andreco. Some are legends and some are novices, but the raw talent is undeniable.
The overall brilliance of the exhibit is apparent in the vast assortment of artistic methodologies, mediums, and motifs flaunted by each artist. Though wide-ranging in subject matter and style, the pieces are flawlessly curated to create a cohesive and enjoyable experience.
The exhibition space is divided into several indoor and outdoor areas. A component of the indoor exhibition space involves a collaboration section, in which the artists’ distinctive styles converge across canvases. The outdoor area is set up as an “artist calling” arena, where newcomers are able to put their masterpieces on display next to the work of league legends. Workshops, lectures, music, and food accompany the art from June to August.
