Where to dance in Florence
Florence is packed with great wine bars and rooftops to enjoy drinks with friends. But what if you feel like dancing the night away, where can you go then? Lucky for you, Florence has a few venues. You’ll find that the clubs in the historic center are mostly frequented by an international crowd while Italians tend to frequent clubs in the outskirts of Florence. Just keep in mind that most of the Tuscan capital’s dance clubs work with a drink card system, meaning you pay for your drinks at the end. By all means, don’t lose the card! Open since the early 1980s, Tenax is Florence’s most famous nightclub. Located near Florence’s airport, this club is known for its famed parties and amazing music and guests. The musical program is in constant evolution and Tenax doesn’t miss a beat. In this new era, DJs are the protagonists and Tenax sure has amazing guests and resident Djs: from Ashley Beedle and Little Louie Vega, from François Kevorkian to Dimitri From Paris. It’s the temple of house music where Djs from all over the world perform every week. The crowd? Stylish.
Piazzale Michelangelo, 84
From summer to fall, this stylish outdoor nightclub is the it-place in Florence. Located across from Piazzale Michelangelo, Flo Art offers a fantastic view of the city paired with a chic ambiance. Pop by for aperitivo to enjoy sunset paired with drinks or drop by from 11pm onwards to hit the dance floor. Based on the night of the week you’ll find music ranging from reggaeton and hip-hop to chillout and house. Don’t forget to dress the part.

Located in the outskirts of Florence, Otel is a nightclub boasting a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system, an extensive dance floor, VIP tables and much more. Mostly frequented by Italians in their late 20s, it’s definitely what you’d expect from a club. The music is a mix between commercial, hip-hop and house. Don’t expect to go there before midnight.

This summer club is a reference point for Florentines looking for a fun night out. It’s the summer version of Otel, right next door, counting 1300sqm spread over a three-level outdoor structure, and open only from May to September. The design is minimal, the sound and light system effective and the music ranges according to the night.

Footsteps from Piazza della Repubblica, YAB is a chic nightclub frequented by a young (late teens, early twenties) upscale crowd. The club boasts two bars and a large dance floor and plays commercial and electronic dance music as well as its Monday hip-hop night. If you’re in your early twenties and looking for a dance night out in the historic center, YAB is great.
