Which major artists lived and worked in Florence?

Florence was home to many of the greatest artists in history, especially during the Renaissance. Among the most important are Giotto, one of the pioneers of early Renaissance painting; Filippo Brunelleschi, architect of the Duomo’s iconic dome; Donatello, master sculptor of the early Renaissance; Masaccio, revolutionary painter of perspective; and Fra Angelico, known for his spiritual frescoes.
