Majolica is an old authentic technique for glazing hefty ceramic pieces that has been used by Sycilian and Florentine artisans. Rich, lustrous color hue of the glaze is achieved by coating unfired clay pieces with opaque white glaze, then painting on top of it with decorative stains and oxides.
