Swap the city for the Chianti hills on a small-group Vespa tour from Florence: quiet country roads, a medieval village, a winery cellar visit and a Tuscan meal with wine and olive oil tasting.
Some places are best seen from a car window. Chianti is best seen from a Vespa, at an easy pace, with the vineyards and olive groves rolling past on both sides.
The tour starts in central Florence, where a minivan takes you out to the countryside. Before setting off, your guide gives a full briefing and a practice session, so you can get comfortable with the controls even if you’ve never ridden a scooter before.
Then it’s onto the back roads of Chianti, following your guide through vineyards, olive groves and cypress-lined lanes, with stops along the way for photos. The ride covers about 30 km at a relaxed average speed of 25 km/h, and a support vehicle follows the group. Halfway through, you’ll stop in a medieval village for a short walk and a tasting of local products.
The ride ends at a Chianti winery, where you’ll visit the cellars and learn how the region’s wines are produced and aged in oak barrels. To finish, sit down to a traditional Tuscan lunch or dinner, depending on your departure time, with a tasting of the estate’s wine and extra virgin olive oil. The minivan then takes you back to Florence.
