TOUR ITINERARY

The walking tour starts with an awesome view of the “Piramide Cestia”, the only surviving Pyramid of ancient Rome: when Pharaos culture from Egypt had a major influence on habits of Romans upper class.

The Testaccio walking tour then heads to the “Non Catholic Cemetery”, a garden in the heart of Rome: also called “the lost poets park“, silent, peaceful and inspiring, with its awesome monumental graves, that hosts the remaines of British poets Shelley and Keats, of many painters, sculptors and artists, a number of scholars and several diplomats: a unique and magical place that offers shelter to a number of privileged cats as well.

The tours goes on around the “Monte dei Cocci“, a hill made of broken pieces of terracotta vases, takes a look at the unique industrial archeology complex of the “Mattatoio“, Rome’s former slaughterhouse, and then reaches the “Testaccio food market”. Here the Chef of the best food stand, will show you how to prepare the “Supplì” (a fried ball of rice with tomato and mozzarella). You will enjoy it with a drink and different tasting of pizza for a real Roman experience with locals.

An experience with locals from meeting to farewell.

Small group tour that was well planned and executed. We were able to ask questions and get a better understanding of Testaccio and Rome in general. Delightful tour guides. Interesting neighborhood not inundated with tourism.

What a day! I didn’t expect anything like this: it is a tour that goes beyond any expectation, a part of Rome that is definitely different from the one I knew. The cemetery is such a special place that you seem to be dreaming; then the vibes you get walking around the food market and all those juicy and tasty food, what can I say: I really recommend it! Thank you to my hosts they were such a nice and lovely company.
