As I was strolling through the cobblestone streets of Rome, I found myself in the charming Piazza Rondanini, just a stone’s throw away from Piazza della Rotonda. Among the gelato stores, local boutiques and restaurants, one place definitely popped out: BAHR.

Whether it’s a traditional manicure, a pedicure, a gel or a semi-permanent manicure you need, BAHR has got you covered.

But what seems like just a nail bar is actually so much more. Walk along BAHR’s corridor and enter their last room to discover a whole new world of beauty and relaxation. Dimmed lights, warm tones, soothing background music, projections of nature and a sensational space tailor-made for everyone’s inner needs. This is BAHR’s newest state-of-the-art spa. But don’t be tricked by its modern design, BAHR is more rooted in the past than you could possibly imagine. Inside the spa, two columns dating back to Ancient Rome greet you at the entrance. And in the underground floor lie the ruins and a mosaic of Ancient Rome’s most controversial emperor’s private baths: Nero’s.

Coming back from the ruins of Rome’s first private spa, BAHR proposes an evolution of the ancient concept of Roman baths. Standing for Beauty, Ablution, Hair and Relax, BAHR is a refuge in the heart of Rome, an oasis where you can relax and treat yourself to the wellbeing of your mind and body. If you want to unwind and recharge – but don’t have much time to dedicate yourself – try their BAHR Therapy. This 25-minute ritual brings you back to life with a massage that relieves tensions from your head, hands and feet. The ritual begins by wrapping a warm moist cloth around your feet to increase circulation and help relieve muscle soreness. It’s followed by a soothing massage where pressure is applied to the right areas of your feet, head and hands. In just 25 minutes, you’ll feel brand new and ready to wander the streets of Rome again. The best part? It will only set you back €35.

If you have more time for pampering, treat yourself to a facial and body treatment in one of their natural elements massage rooms. Choose among their FIRE, EARTH, AIR and WATER themed rooms to indulge in different types of treatments. From the Calor Petrarum treatment with lava stones in the FIRE massage room (65 min, €95), to vinotherapy and facial or body treatments with mud in EARTH (facial: 50 min, €65 or body: 65 min, €75 ), there’s plenty to choose from.

And to take it to another level, you can exclusively book their private BAHR spa for either 1.30hr or 3hr. Take a dip inside the room temperature ablution jacuzzi pool to start your journey before you relax in the Turkish bath and sauna. Afterwards, indulge in the famous Oriental savonage experience by lying down on their marble stone and having one of the staff members perform a regenerating exfoliating treatment using olive oil soap. It’s the perfect gift for yourself, your partner or a small group of friends (2-4 people maximum).
