Newly opened Freddo Gelato is a wonderful little gem nestled in Piazza Tuscolo.
Their concept is based on simplicity and quality – all gelatos are prepared daily in their exposed laboratory and are 100% homemade. That means no preservatives or dyes – something I was able to spot right away from the metal tins they use.
Like their name, their concept is simple, but the flavors are anything but.
With unique options ranging from pineapple and curcuma, raspberry and basil, the options are extremely unique but always seasonal. I had a difficult time choosing but I ended up with my favorite combination for the summer – Mango and Ginger. Which was so refreshing, rich and delicious.
Also on rotation are the classic gelato recipes such as Roman biscotti, Pistachio and Hazelnut. Only ingredients of the highest quality are used, whatever flavor you choose.
Freddo Gelato also offers their customers many gluten-free, vegan and sugar-free options. And they have a selection of pastries for breakfast and homemade cakes, crepes, waffles and brioches.
The interiors are simple but extremely elegant – like a modern take on vintage ice cream shop. But there is also have a lovely outdoor seating area outside in the square which is rare.
With the hot summer temperatures in full effect, Freddo Gelato’s opening couldn’t have come at a better time.
