Gourmet specialty food and excellent wines
Giovanni Picca is well-known in the area. In 1960, he opened a deli at number 7 of Via Principe Amedeo, which –years laterin 2004 – was turned into the food and wine shop “Picca e Picca” by his daughters Alessandra and Antonella. In this shop situated only a few blocks from Termini station, you can find gourmet specialty food and excellent wines and the quality of its products, from hand-crafted chocolates to the Sicilian pasta made of ancient wheat and the traditional almond biscuits from Tuscany, is outstanding.
The location is tiny, but the selection is huge: the shelves are stocked with sauces, oils, wines, liquors, sweets, pasta and many other Italian artisanal products carefully selected by the Picca sisters. It’s even possible to order more goodies –such as fresh truffles– and collect them the following day. Are you feeling overwhelmed by choice? The friendly sisters running the shop will help you by sharing their knowledge and passion for high-quality Italian products and good cuisine.
Occasionally, while you are grocery shopping at “Picca e Picca” you can stumble upon a tasting and learn more about a product directly from those who are making it. And if you are travelling and can’t carry the goodies, you can have them shipped directly to your home.
