The Summertime festival returns from June 5th through August 7th at the Casa del jazz in Rome. Over 60 concerts and shows will take place on the outdoor stage set up in Villa Osio park, in Viale di Porta Ardeatina. And after two years, the festival finally returns to its maximum capacity of 1000 seats and a billboard full of news and surprises – not only for just jazz fans.
There are great expectations for the featured Italian jazz stars: including Dado Moroni who presents the new production “Itamela” (16/6) for the first time, Giovanni Guidi who performs solo in a double concert, followed by Furio Di Castri who revisits Charles Mingus at one hundred years from birth (18/6), Maria Pia De Vito (19/6), and again Rosario Giuliani (21/6), Roberto Gatto (22/6), Fabrizio Bosso with Javier Girotto (24/6), as well as the duo Mauro Campobasso and Mauro Manzoni in double concert together with Ettore Fioravanti Opus Magnum Sextet (30/6), the trio Rita Marcotulli / Ares Tavolazzi / Israel Varela for their special concert in collaboration with the Mexican Embassy (2/7), Paolo Fresu in trio with Jacques Morelenbaum and Rita Marcotulli (14/7) through their project dedicated to Ferlinghetti (6/8), and Enrico Rava in concert with the Fred Hersch trio (18/7).

Great orchestras and new trends
A particular focus will be on the great orchestras with some first ever original productions of Musica per Roma.
A real review of this review will be one dedicated to New Trends which presents a refined selection of the most interesting proposals of contemporary jazz, that territory where jazz, soul, funk, hip-hop, electronic and spoken word meet. After a preview with trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire (6/7) the concerts will follow one another in the second half of July with Grammy-nominated drummer Nate Smith (15/7), and Makaya McCraven who are a producer and emerging drummer combo, defined by Down Beat as one of the most influential musicians of the next decade (21/7). The Sons of Kemet, one of the most representative ensembles of nu-jazz (25/7), the visionary multi-instrumentalist and composer Louis Cole (26/7), the Anglo-Guyanese saxophonist Nubya Garcia (27/7), the Italian producer, speaker and Dj Khalab ( 28/7), the innovative Manchester-born group of GoGo Penguin (30/7) will also perform.
