Discover the summer program of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.
The 2025 Summer Season of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia will open on June 23 with a production resulting from the collaboration between Santa Cecilia and the Teatro di Roma – Teatro Nazionale: Francesco Lanzillotta will conduct the incidental music written by Mendelssohn to accompany the classical tragedy Antigone by Sophocles. Alongside the Orchestra and Chorus of Santa Cecilia, two exceptional artists: Massimo Popolizio and Sandra Toffolatti.
On June 30, Santa Cecilia Music Director Daniel Harding will conduct two masterpieces of musical impressionism: La Mer by Claude Debussy and Daphnis et Chloé by Maurice Ravel, who is celebrating the 150th anniversary of his birth. The protagonist of Debussy’s work is the sea, a mythical and ideal place, the memory of which holds a place of honor in the composer’s life.
On July 2, it will be the turn of Giuseppe Verdi‘s Requiem Mass, again conducted by Harding, while on the 17, the National Orchestra of the Conservatories with the Choir of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia will perform, under the direction of Michele Spotti, Orff‘s Carmina Burana.
On September 25, Nicola Piovani will close the season with Piovani conducts Piovani, a concert entirely dedicated to his own music. The program includes the world premiere of Concerto Cantatore, Cyberknife—a rhapsody for clarinet and orchestra featuring Alessandro Carbonare—and symphonic suites from Life Is Beautiful and Fellini’s films (Interview, The Voice of the Moon, Ginger and Fred).
