Circolo Scandinavo is a Nordic artists residency and association founded in 1860
Circolo Scandinavo was founded in the 1860s, and over the years its members have included figures such as Henrik Ibsen, Sigrid Undset and August Strindberg. Today, it is a historic cultural foundation and a home for Nordic artists. Each month, artists from all five Nordic countries, working across different disciplines, are offered a residency under the same roof to develop their projects.

The aim of the Scandinavian Circle is to support and strengthen the work of individual Nordic artists while encouraging dialogue among Nordic artists in an international context. This mission is also pursued by inviting the Roman public to engage with the residents and discover more about Nordic culture through events and initiatives. Anyone can become a member of Circolo, gaining access to the historic in-house Nordic library, invitations to cultural events, and special discounts at many of the city’s cultural venues.
