What are the best shopping streets and areas in Rome?

Some of the best areas for shopping in Rome are concentrated in the historic center. Via del Corso is ideal for high-street brands and fast fashion, while Via Condotti and the streets around the Spanish Steps focus on luxury labels. Around Piazza di Spagna and Via del Babuino you’ll find high-end boutiques, whereas the Monti neighborhood is great for independent designers and vintage shops. Prati (around Via Cola di Rienzo) is popular with locals for mid-range fashion, shoes and everyday shopping.

What are the typical opening hours for shops in Rome?

Most shops in central Rome open roughly from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, with continuous hours in tourist areas and shopping streets. Smaller neighborhood stores may close for a lunch break (often between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm). Large department stores, malls and many shops in the historic center stay open later and are usually open on Sundays as well, especially around Via del Corso, Spanish Steps and major shopping centers.

Where can I find Italian fashion and luxury brands in Rome?

If you’re looking for Italian designers and luxury brands, head to the area around Piazza di Spagna: Via Condotti, Via Borgognona and Via Frattina are lined with the flagship stores of major Italian and international fashion houses. For a mix of luxury and contemporary brands in a more local atmosphere, explore Prati and some of the streets off Via del Corso.

Where can I go for vintage and independent designer shopping in Rome?

For vintage shops, independent designers and smaller concept stores, the Monti district is one of the best areas in Rome. The cobbled streets between the Colosseum and Via Nazionale are filled with boutiques selling curated vintage clothing, accessories, jewelry and handmade pieces.
