Villa Aperta Festival at Villa Medici

Pop, Electro and Rock Music Festival at Villa Medici

This electronic and rock-progressive music festival held at Villa Medici celebrates the very essence and spirit of art and music (with an extra bonus of having a stellar panoramic view of Rome)!

For its 8th edition, The French Academy of Rome and its director Muriel Mayette-Holtz open the doors of Villa Medici to the music for Calling for a new Renaissance. Three days of electronic, pop and rock music intertwined by techno rhytms awais you. “Villa Aperta is an appeal to a new Renaissance, an invitation to collective boldness that characterized that era. All the artists of this edition have distinguished themselves through their desire to experiment, mix the arts, and to change the world through culture”, says Cristiano Leone.

This edition includes lots of music, but also collaborations between musicians, composers, visual artists and writers as to celebrate all artistic formats. For the first time in the festival, this year literature is introduced into the festival, with the Nobel Prize winner Gao Xingjian – poet, essayist, painter and playwright.

This year, music performances will be juxtaposed by visual art installations and projections by artists such as Julien Ribot and Xavier Veilhan. The lineup includes the duo Tiger & Woods, Alvin Curran on June 7; Joakim, NSDOS, Busy P, Jacques e Mydve on the June 8; and Flavien Berger and L’Impératrice on June 9.
