Rome Hosts European Aquatics Championships 2022

The largest aquatic competition in Europe, the 2022 European Aquatic Competition has begun in Rome and is definitely bringing in excitement from aquatic sports lovers all over the world. Organized by the European Swimming League, this competition began in the year 1926 and has over time held every two years for a period of about two weeks. The Championship has been held in over 15 different countries across Europe and has distributed many medals, with Russia at the top of the chart having won about 400 medals. Countries following Russia at the top are Germany, East Germany, Hungary, Italy, and Great Britain among others. The outcomes of the 2022 championship will definitely determine what countries will continue to sit at the top of the medal table.

Europe’s Biggest Aquatic Sport Brings the World’s Best Athletes to Rome

The European Swimming League welcomes spectators from all over the world to enjoy the Championships, as well as explore the beauty, food, and atmosphere of Rome. Chances are that spectators will get to meet their favorite champions, and be entertained by the European Championship’s mascots: Lea and Gastone; the rescue dogs.

This year, the 36th European Aquatics Competition began on the of 11th August and will come to an end on the 21st. Competing this year, are about 47 countries and 1500 athletes who will and are currently battling it out across stadiums in the Foro Italico Park in Rome. There are a total of 77 competitions, with 231 medals to be won.

Disciplines in the championship this year are: swimming, diving, high diving, artistic swimming, and open water swimming. These disciplines will all take place during the 11 days of the championships, with certain games happening at different times of the same day.

Swimming is scheduled to take place from the 11th to the 17th of August, at the Stadio del Nuoto, the Olympic swimming stadium.

Happening from the 11th to the 15th of August is the Artistic Swimming competition, and it will take place at the Nicola Pietrangeli Stadium. yet to begin.

Also happening at the Stadio del Nuoto is the diving championship which will take place between the 15th and 21st of August. And, high diving is scheduled to take place at the tennis club’s courts 1 and 2, from the 18th to the 20 of August. Open Water Swimming is also scheduled to happen at the Lido di Ostia, from the 18th to the 21st of August, bringing the championship to a close.

The games are currently streaming across a multitude of sports channels. Some of these are SKY sport, BBC sports, BBC 1 and 2, and LEN TV channels, which will cover both the morning and afternoon games.

How to buy tickets for the European Aquatics Championships 2022 in Rome

Tickets are available for purchase online, via vivaticket on the European Aquatics Championships official website. To purchase the tickets, one would have to visit the website and click the tickets option to make the purchase. The tickets are sold according to the different disciplines, and the various days the games will be played, so purchases will have to be made separately for persons who intend to be at every game.

The Championships are set to be entertaining for sure, as all the famous, strong, and daring aquatic sports athletes are said to be in attendance. The games promise to be thrilling as high divers will be to jump from heights as far as the night floor of a building, among other events.  This is not the first time the Championships are happening in Rome, as the city was also the host of one of the earliest games in 1983.
