Locals and foreigners can now discover Rome in an interactive way with Foxtrail – a mix between an outdoor escape game and a treasure hunt
After Zurich, Helsinki, London, Nuremberg and Berlin, Foxtrail finally arrives to the Eternal City! With its urban adventure–offering a mix between an outdoor escape game and a treasure hunt based on interactive clues–Foxtrail is the new way to discover Rome while having fun.
Forget reading endless guides on the best places to visit in Rome and leave it to Foxtrail to help you discover Rome. Two trails are active (but more to come soon) in two of Rome’s most beautiful areas: Trastevere and Villa Borghese. Gather your group (from two to six people), book your slot (or more slots if you are a big group) and explore Rome. There are departure slots every 15 minutes (that way you won’t meet other groups along the trail) and you can even book last-minute on the same day!
Unlike a classic treasure hunt, Foxtrail has permanent trails that can be accessed 365 days a year, from 9am till sunset. Each trail combines technology and creativity, offering interactive installations and clues that take you through off-the-beaten path areas in Rome. But who is Foxtrail for? Everyone (of all ages)! Whether you’re travelling with children, with your partner or a group of friends, this urban adventure is just the thing for you. And Romans, this is something for us locals as well.
The dilemma: which trail to try? Both the Trastevere Revolution and the Villa Borghese Dreamers adventures will ensure an amazing time. The Villa Borghese Dreamers adventure is dedicated to all those “dreamers” who made Italian history great, that will take you on a journey through this beautiful park. While the Trastevere Revolution adventure takes you through the most beautiful vias and areas of Trastevere, where the heroes of the Roman Republic fought to build a better future. Whichever adventure you choose, you’ll spend a beautiful day outdoors on the hunt for clues, taking you from ancient statues and panoramic views to hidden courtyards and local gems. Can’t decipher a clue? Do not despair! Foxtrail has a helpline you can message to get tips for the next clue.
Once you’ve booked online, you’ll receive a confirmation email with your reservation number. Head to the meeting point listed in the email, go on the website, insert your reservation number and wait until you receive a text with a code to insert in a secret box. When the box opens, grab your paper bag, inclusive of a map, a manual with clues and neck straps that will allow you to enter certain areas.
That’s when your urban adventure begins. Each trail lasts around two to three hours, is 3km long and is divided into 17/18 permanent stops. Forget your phone, all you’ll need is your map, paper and a pencil! And if for whatever reason you can’t make it, Foxtrail has free cancellation for up to 24 hours before the adventure.
