Welcome back, Winter
The Rome-based fashion designer Nadia Mari is ready to showcase an all-new collection at her atelier on Via Monserrato, just a short walk from Campo de’ Fiori. We had a talk with her to learn more about her latest collection:
What are the key elements of your FW17 collection?
In the Nadiamari FW17/18 Collection whimsical patterns give silk tunic dresses and shirts a light, floating touch echoing motifs from Japanese gardens and cloudy skies.
What was your inspiration?
I have been fascinated by northern European fairy tales. So, this season’s prints are as colored and luxurious as a forest.
Are there upcoming new projects you’re excited about?
We are all very excited about this fall as, at the end of this year, our brand (NADIAMARI) will turn 10. I designed a one-of-a-kind series to complement this season’s collection, that is meant to be sold in my atelier only. I used vintage foulards and fabrics, designs as loud as a bazaar, with bold colors and cultural referring prints: golden medallions, paisleys and Japanese florals contrast abstract pastel prints.
How would you describe Made in Italy?
Good taste, color balancing, original interpretation of classic designs. This, is Italy: being inspired by beauty and guided by quality. This is why an Italian dress is so precious.
Are there typical Roman elements in your collections?
Rome is an old aristocratic lady asking for class and savoir faire. I could never let her down.
Where should I wear your clothes in Rome?
I’d choose Via Monserrato. And I actually did, as I opened my second flagship store there, where everything shouts out “beauty”. This is the best place to wear a NADIAMARI.
Nadiamari provides a tailor-made shopping experience with the designer and her team. The boutique also offers a personal shopper, image consulting and styling services which you can purchase as a gift to treat a friend (or yourself!).
Following in the footsteps of the original Atelier Nadiamari in Monteverde, the boutique has an eclectic schedule of events, ranging from wine tastings to graphic novel showcases. A detailed autumn/winter schedule will be released soon on the atelier’s social media profiles.
NADIAMARI’S popularity has been inexhaustibly growing in time, and the brand is registered in Europe, the U.S., Russia, Japan and Korea. The collections are presented in Paris twice a year. Since she graduated from European Institute of Design in Rome in 1996, Nadia has worked as a stylist and consultant for several top fashion companies in Italy including Prada, Valentino, Gai Mattiolo and Byblos and is well-versed in every stage of stage of clothing production.
