Looking for the perfect spot to have lunch and give yourself a rest from your morning activities in Rome? I’ve got just the place for you. Hotel Forum’s Roof Garden Restaurant in the Monti neighborhood is the picture-perfect setting for a romantic getaway from the city’s hustle and madness any day of the week. By romantic I don’t mean you have to be with your better half to enjoy this place; the romance here is born through the restaurant’s location.
Once you reach the top of the hotel, be ready to be blown away by the view that welcomes you: the Roof Garden overlooks the Imperial Fora and is directly in front of the Forum of Nerva. The splendid view stretches from Piazza Venezia which holds the Victor Emmanuel II Monument, across to the Basilica of Maxentius and the Colosseum. No matter where you are seated you are sure to have the best seat in the house.
The restaurant, which offers an à la carte menu in the evenings, serves a buffet lunch every weekends from 12.30pm to 3.30pm. The price is set at €32 per person (drinks excluded). There is a great range and a selection for all, including lots of vegetarian options. Expect to find items such as caprese salad, cous cous with vegetables, or cured meats and cheese as antipasti. For first courses, you will get a range of options from ravioli di ricotta e spinaci in salsa aurora to eggplant parmesan. The same goes for secondi – swordfish alla siciliana and beef straccetti are just a few of the classics on this buffet list. Last but not least, there’s an entire table dedicated to desserts, from Italian favorites like tiramisù and panna cotta to the delicious Viennese chocolate cake torta sacher. For those of you who are keeping it light, there’s fruit salad to end your meal on a sweet note.
If you’ve tried to get a dinner reservation here and failed, fear not as they offer their three course prix fixe dinner menu set at €75 (drinks excluded) at lunch as well. There is no wrong choice here just, great food on top of one of the most beautiful rooftops in the city.
An additional rooftop in the hotel serves cocktails and spirits for aperitivo starting at 5.30pm to 11.30pm every evening. It is only open from 1 March to 31 October.
